This policy explains what information protradecalc.com (“ProTradeCalc”, “we”) collects when you use the site, and how it is used. The short version: there are no accounts, nothing you type into a calculator leaves your browser, and the only form on the site is the optional contractor quote request on cost pages.
What we collect
Calculator inputs
Dimensions, materials and prices you enter are processed in your browser. They are not sent to our servers. Your inputs may appear in the page address so you can bookmark or share a result; that address is not logged by us beyond the anonymous analytics described below.
Contractor quote requests
Cost pages include an optional form to request quotes from local contractors. If you submit it, we collect what you enter (name, phone number, job ZIP code, time frame, and optionally your email and notes) together with the page you were on, the quantity and estimated cost shown at the time, your IP address, browser user agent and the time of submission. We store this in our server-side storage (hosted by Vercel in the United States) and share it with up to three contractors or contractor-matching partners who serve your area so they can contact you about that project, as stated next to the submit button. We may be paid by those contractors or partners for the introduction. We do not sell your details to anyone else, we do not add you to a mailing list, and we keep quote requests for up to 24 months (or until you ask us to delete yours). Contractors who receive your request are independent businesses; their own privacy practices apply to what they do with it. To withdraw, correct or delete a request, contact us.
Preferences stored on your device
The dark-mode toggle stores a single value (ptc-theme) in your browser's local storage, and your cookie choice is stored as ptc-consent. Neither is transmitted. Clearing site data removes both.
Your consent choice
The first time you visit, a banner asks whether we may use analytics and advertising cookies. Your answer is stored in your browser's local storage (ptc-consent) so we do not ask again; it is never transmitted. Nothing optional runs until you choose, and “Reject all” is as easy as “Accept all”. You can change your mind at any time with the Cookie settings link in the footer. Withdrawing analytics consent removes the Google Analytics cookies we set.
Analytics (only with your consent)
If you allow analytics, we load Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are used and where visitors come from. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (for example _ga) to distinguish visitors and sessions, and collects device, browser, approximate location and page-interaction data. IP addresses are not logged or stored by Google Analytics 4. We do not use it to identify you, and we do not enable advertising features or cross-site tracking. If you decline, the Google Analytics script is not loaded at all. You can also opt out with Google's browser add-on; how Google uses data from sites that use its services is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Server logs
Our hosting provider, Vercel, keeps standard request logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp) for security and operations. They are retained for a limited period and are not used to profile visitors.
Advertising
ProTradeCalc is supported by advertising served by Google AdSense. Ad placements are shown in clearly labelled slots. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info. We pass your consent choice to those networks using Google's Consent Mode: unless you allow advertising cookies, the signals for ad storage, ad user data and ad personalisation stay set to “denied” and ads, if shown, are not personalised. Google's advertising practices, including how to opt out of personalised advertising, are described at policies.google.com/technologies/ads. You can also manage ad personalisation through your browser or device settings.
Affiliate links
Some links to products or suppliers are affiliate links. If you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The retailer's own privacy policy applies once you leave this site. Affiliate relationships never change a calculated quantity.
If you email us, we keep the message for as long as needed to reply and to fix any reported issue. We do not add you to a mailing list; there is no mailing list.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Your rights
Apart from quote requests, we hold almost no personal data, so most rights requests (access, deletion, portability) will have nothing to return. If you have submitted a quote request or believe we hold information about you, or you have a question about this policy, contact us and we will respond within 30 days. Residents of the EEA, UK, California and other jurisdictions with privacy laws have the rights those laws provide; we honour them regardless of where you live.
Changes
We will update this page when practices change and note the date at the top. Material changes, such as adding a new analytics provider, will be reflected here before they take effect.
